Traveling with pets

When venturing out into the world, it’s best to think ahead for your human companions, and your furred, scaled or feathered companions as well.  Here are 8 important tips when you decide to take your favorite animal companion on a trip be it local, or far from home.

1. Have a snug harness or collar on them.
2. Don’t open a window or door without making sure they are secure.
3. Beware Hot Days!
4. Just as it’s illegal and unsafe to leave children in cars, it is soon to be illegal and unsafe for pets as well.
5. Make sure your destination is pet-friendly.
6. Take along food, water, crates, blankets, and toys.
7. An anxious pet may need sedatives.
8. Be sure to have a rabies certificate that has been written for the current travel if crossing state lines.
